11 & 12 January 2016
Two schools in Carmarthen, Wales showed an interest in being involved in the YPRES 2016 project and contacted Andy Rowe of DAR Design, their local artist blacksmith, to see if something could be organised. He proposed a children’s poppy forging event at his forge, the children being brought to the forge in the school mini bus. The tooling was taken and set up and the children were organised to forge individually or in pairs. The event ran very smoothly and the children really enjoyed the hands-on experience that resulted in some very good poppies being made.
